We are continuing to grow our research group and so are looking for individuals to fill a number of new junior/senior permanent research positions. The primary task will be to undertake research into the detection and exploitation of robust statistically significant patterns within financial time series data with the aim of developing automated trading and execution strategies. This is a task which has the potential to encompass a diverse range of research directions. Consequently the role will have a broad scope.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. or recent Honours/Masters degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, finance or a related field. All levels of experience will be considered. Competency in software development is essential and a thorough knowledge of one or more of Fortran, C, C++, Matlab/Octave or related languages will be required. Knowledge of or past research experience in any of the fields of complex systems, statistical and numerical analysis, machine learning, pattern recognition, time series modelling or related would be highly regarded. Prior knowledge of or experience in finance is however not a pre-requisite. Applicants should be willing to work closely with other researchers and with I.T. professionals within the company.

You will be required to use your programming skills to develop state-of-the-art real-time, multi-user applications to service our trading requirements. Our development environment is dotNet, programming language is either C++ or C# depending on specific requirements and database is MSSQL Server. You will be working as part of a team of ten highly skilled developers and be expected to produce high quality work, adhering to our software development guidelines.

Ideally your focus is on the business requirements of application development. You enjoy working with the end-users, communicate with them easily, and take pride in delivering highly user-oriented application software.

You must possess and be able to demonstrate;
1. Strong financial applications experience (with preference given to experience in Futures Trading and FX)
2. A talent and passion for UI design
3. 5+ years development experience using OO design techniques
4. C++ or C# experience
5. Strong analytical skills
6. Strong SQL skills (with preference for MSSQL Server experience)
7. Good documentation and communication skills

Skills in the following areas will also be highly regarded;
1. Experience with real-time, multi-user applications
2. Knowledge of FIX or similar protocols
3. Knowledge of FX Portal technology
4. Knowledge of CMM
5. Knowledge of TDD
6. Experience in developing controls
